Sophomore Olusola Adeniran (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) scored six points early as The College at Brockport Men's Basketball team started the game on a 16-1 run and cruised to a 75-57 victory over Potsdam Friday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest in Potsdam.

Brockport (7-1 Overall, 1-0 SUNYAC) opened the SUNYAC conference schedule in dominating fashion with an early run to take a commanding lead did not allow Potsdam (2-8, 0-3) to get within double digits the remainder of the contest.

Senior John Ivy (Rochester, NY/East) led the Golden Eagles with 26 points and moved past two players on the Brockport All-Time career scoring list in the process. He started the game with 1,301 career points and moved past Gerald Williams who scored 1,304 career points and John Vlogianitis who finished his career with 1,313 points to take over eighth place on the all-time list.

Freshman Clifton Lyerly (Inwood, NY/Lawrence) added 13 points and senior Brandon Caruthers (Rochester, NY/East) chipped in 10, five assists and four steals for the Golden Eagles.

After the fast start with a 15-poin t advantage in the first 5:30 of the game, Brockport controlled the pace of the game and led by as many as 19 points over the next 13 minutes and had a first half high of a 21-point lead after a Caruthers layup with 1:04 left in the period. Ivy scored 12 of his 26 in the first 20 minutes as Brockport connected on half its shots from the field (14-of-28) including 5-of-11 from beyond the 3-point arc.

In the second half, Brockport built a 24-point lead when senior Patrick Coyle (North Chili, NY/Bishop Kearney) hit a free throw with 15:26 left.

Potsdam trimmed the lead to 14 points over the next five minutes and trailed by just 11 points after a 3-pointer with 8:25 on the clock.

The Golden Eagles regained control as Bobby Bell (Rochester, NY/East) hit a jumper and Ivy followed with a pair of layups to extend the lead back to 17 points and Brockport was able to empty its bench over the final minutes of the game.

The Golden Eagles finished the game hitting nearly 45% of its shots from the field and forced 21 turnovers with 15 steals scoring 23 points off turnovers in the contest. Coyle and Adeniran led Brockport with eight rebounds each and Coyle added three blocked shots.
