STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – For the first 25 minutes, the Lehman College men's basketball team was engaged in a nip and tuck affair at host Staten Island, before the Dolphins used a 25-0 run to blow the game wide open, en route to a 95-62 win. CSI remains in first place in the CUNY Athletic Conference at 4-0, while Lehman drops to 3-2.
The pivotal stretch happened midway in the second half, right after senior Kelvin Gil (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) made a free throw to trim the CSI lead to two points, 48-46. Gil later made another free throw to end the run.
CSI shot an amazing 65.7% from the floor min the second half, connecting on 23 of 35 shots.
On the evening, sophomore Jerrome Jones (Bronx, N.Y./Mt. Vernon) paced Lehman with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Jonathan Greenfield (Hartford, Conn./Windsor) added ten points.
The Lightning (8-5 overall) look to rebound on Saturday, January 11, at CCNY.
