The Baruch College Bearcats suffered a 75-58 loss to the Cardinals of York College on Friday night in Jamaica, New York.

The visiting Bearcats led 24-23 with 6:12 left in the first half, but the Cardinals scored 12 of the next 16 points to carry a 35-28 advantage into the halftime break.

The Bearcats slowly chipped away at the deficit  and got as close as five points (46-41) on a 3-pointer by Raymond De La Cruz with 10:54 remaining.

York responded over the next few minutes with a 10-0 run to build their lead to 56-41. That run proved the difference as the Bearcats could not get any closer to suffer their third defeat of the season and first in conference play.

The bench was a positive factor again totaling 27 points, but the overall shooting of 38 percent (21-for-55) from the field and 25 percent (4-for-16) from beyond the arc dug the team into a big hole during the second half.

Granville Gittens led the Bearcats with 17 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Raymond De La Cruz was the only other double-figure scorer with 11 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Baruch enters the final exam/holiday break with a 6-3 overall record and 3-1 mark in the CUNYAC.
