Early Outburst Paces Pomona-Pitzer to Win

PASADENA, CA – Pomona-Pitzer started hot from the beginning and never looked back en route to an 87-60 win over Caltech on Saturday.

The Sagehens came out hot from the opening tip as the visitors raced out to a 15-0 lead less than five minutes into the game. During that opening spurt they hit three of their first four shots from behind the arc and seven of their first nine field goal attempts in building that lead.

Pomona-Pitzer hot shooting continued the remainder of the half and never let the Beavers respond. The visitors ended up hitting 18 of their 32 attempts (56.3 percent) from the floor as they built a 51-19 lead heading into the locker room.

During the final 20 the Sagehens kept their lead at 23 or more points in claiming their second SCIAC win of the young season.

Pomona-Pitzer had 10 different players record at least one made field goal. Michael Cohen came off the bench to score a game high 19 points on the strength of a 4-for-5 effort behind the arc.

The Beavers Kc Emezie had a team high 11 points. First-Year Luke Lango nearly recorded a double-double with a 10-point, eight-assist evening.
