Mavs Drop AMCC Road game to LaRoche

More news about: Medaille

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Medaille College men's basketball team was held to 30% shooting in Saturday's lost to LaRoche College on Saturday afternoon by a score of (69-55).

This was another game where the Mavs started slow, and this time it cost them. The Mavericks routinely have a big second half that can make up for a slow start, but LaRoche played consistently throughout and held the Mavs in check.

In the first half, Medaille was held to 27 points on 29.2% (7 of 24) shooting. They weren't much better behind the arc, hitting on only 20% (2 of 10) of their attempts. The Mavericks were also outrebounded as LaRoche finished the half with a 17-10 margin.

The second half was more of the same for both teams as LaRoche played strong defense and controlled the glass. LaRoche held Medaille to 30.8% (8 of 26) shooting and outrebounded them 21-12 on the glass. The Mavs again hit on only 20% of their three point attempts and struggled to get the game close.

LaRoche led by as many as 20 with 13:08 in the second half and seemed to control most of the second half of play. LaRoche did outscore the Mavs in the paint as well, edging them 24-20.

Leading the Mavs was Sean Bellomo with (12) points and Jammal Coleman who chipped in (10) points and (5) rebounds. Otherwise, the Mavs had contributions from numerous players, but no one else scored in double figures.

The Mavs (1-6, 1-1) will travel to Erie, PA next Saturday to play Penn State-Behrend at 1 p.m.
