Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's basketball team dropped its first Capital Athletic Conference game of the season with a 64-56 loss to visiting league rival Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon.  The Saints fall to 6-2 overall on the season and even their league record to 1-1.

Antonio Rouse led the Saints with 13 points while Reed Scott added 12 and Colin Burkhart chipped in 10.

JC Hoellich led all players with eight rebounds and a pair blocked shots.

Down by as many as 17 in the game, and 14 in the second half, the Saints battled all night and used an 11-2 run over a seven minute span to pull within four in the final minutes of the contest.  The Saints rallied in the second half behind 54.2 percent shooting from the floor and stingy defense that held the Eagles to just 33.3% from the field in the final 20 minutes. With time running out, Marymount was forced into a fouling situation before UMW closed things out on the free throw line.

It was game of two halves however, as roles were reversed in the opening stanza.  Mary Washington shot 53.8% from the floor, including an untenable 75% from three-point range, while the Saints struggled from the floor shooting 30.8% to go into halftime trailing 41-28.

Bradley Riester led Mary Washington with 17 points.

Marymount returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, December 17, as it travels to face Ferrum in non-conference action.
