SUPERIOR (December 5, 2013)- Stout lead for all but two minutes and 53 seconds of the game, on their way to a 79-68 win over Superior in the WIAC opener for both teams.
Superiors' Aaron Corry opened the scoring with a three pointer. The next two baskets came from the Blue Devils top two scorers on the evening, Jimmy Whitehead (Sr, La Crosse), Aaron Jenny (Sr, Spicer Minn.). Stout never looked back from there and took a 40-29 lead into halftime.
The second half was more of the same as the Blue Devils never relinquished the lead. The Yellowjackets were able to get within five on a Jarrod Peterson layup with 13:49 left in the game and again on a Peterson three pointer with 9:44 to play. Whitehead scored the next four points of the game and the Blue Devils lead never got under seven points the rest of the way.
The Blue Devils shot 46.3 percent for the game and held Superior to just 42.9 percent. Stout was led by Jenny who scored a career high 24 points. He also led Stout with five steals and four assists, while chipping in six rebounds. Whitehead finished with 23 points and seven rebounds. Josh Kosloske (Sr, Oakfield) led the Blue Devils on the boards, collecting nine rebounds in the game.
Superior was led in scoring by Jarrod Petersons' 17 points. Bronson Byrne finished with 13 points and led the Yellowjackets in rebounding with 11.
Stout will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 7th when they host UW-Whitewater at 3 pm.
