Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) recorded a double-double, finishing with 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead Macalester (2-3 / 1-0 MIAC) past Concordia-Moorhead in St. Paul in the conference opener for both teams. Griffin Glatt (So., Summit, N.J. / Newark Academy) added 11 points and Sager Moritzky (Fy., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret's Episcopal) added 10 poins to go along with five assists.
Jordan Bolger had 16 points to pace Concordia (3-2 / 0-1 MIAC), while Brandon Giese added 15.
The Scots shot 63% in the second half to finish with a 55% mark on the game (30-for-55). Mac led by a wide 36-20 margin in points in the paint.
Concordia led 31-27 late in the opening half and closed out the period on a 12-7 run to go up 43-34 at the intermission. The score was deadlocked at 61-61 with 6:38 to play and Macalester put things away by going on an 8-2 rally to take command 69-63 at the 3:56 mark. The Scots were a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw stripe over the final :35 to clinch the victory.
Macalester improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC, while Concordia is now 3-2 on the season, 0-1 in MIAC play. The Scots snap a 12-game losing streak to Concordia.
