Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team improved to 4-0 overall, 1-0 in Skyline play with a 102-64 victory over conference opponent Maritime College (1-5, 0-2) tonight in the Walter A. Lynch Sports Center.

In the first half, the Rams led early and Maritime tied the game 13-13 with 14:38 on the clock. Farmingdale pulled ahead, 18-17, with 12:40 left, before an 11-3 run over the next three minutes gave the Privateers the 28-21 advantage. The Rams responded with a 12-5 run of their own to make it 33-33 on a jumper by senior forward Curtis Williams (Stony Brook, N.Y.)

Maritime took one more lead at the four-minute mark, 39-38, before Farmingdale took the final lead, 40-39, on a senior guard Terence Henderson (Bronx, N.Y.) layup at 2:52 and ended the half on a 11-1 surge to hold a 51-40 lead at the halftime break. The Rams shot 55-percent from the field in the first, while Maritime shot 33-percent from long range.

The Rams scored 20 unanswered points to start the second half and led 71-40 with 13:30 remaining to play, rolling to their first conference win of the season as they shot 54-percent from the field in the second and held Maritime to just 24 points.

Farmingdale State had 13 players in scoring and five in double figures, led by freshman forward Weldon Irvine (Queens, N.Y.) with 16 points and 10 rebounds in his 22 minutes played. Senior forward Samson Lawal (Queens, N.Y.) pulled down 14 rebounds and scored eight. Henderson finished 14 points, while junior guard Justin Bailey (Jamaica, N.Y.) finished with 13 points. Senior guard Jonathan Annan (Staten Island, N.Y.) tallied seven assists, six rebounds and five points. Senior center Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) added to his National-leading blocks total with six blocks, along with four points in 16 minutes played.

For Maritime, junior guard T'Vaughn Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas) finished with a game-high 20 points, while freshman guard Kevin Heine (Frederick, Md.) scored 10 points. Junior guard Sean Corley (Harlem, N.Y.) totaled six assists, five steals and six points.

The Rams will now travel to Purchase College on Saturday, December 7th for another Skyline game at 12:00 p.m.
