Warhawks Remain Unbeaten with Win in Beloit

The Bucs took the early lead out of the gate. Reggie Hearn (Milwaukee/Marshall) gave UW-W its first lead of the game, 9-8, at 16:33 on a layup. The Warhawks followed with a 9-1 run to go up 18-9 with 13:13 left in the half. 

Cody Odegaard (Poynette/Poynette) dropped in a three to push the lead into the double figures for the first time, 21-11 at the 12:17 mark. Another three bucket with just two seconds remaining from the hand of Patrick Souter (Racine/St. Catherine's) gave Whitewater its largest lead of the half, 16, heading into intermission.

UW-W shot 53% from the floor led by Hearn's 7-9 and 17 points. The Bucs shot 42% in the first half. 

A 7-0 run to open the second twenty minutes extended the gap to 23, 49-26, with 18:41 showing on the clock. The Warhawks continued to build their lead through the remainder of the game. 

The Warhawks stayed hot from the floor throughout the game making over 50% from the floor in the game. The difference maker came from downtown where Whitewater went 5-11 compared to Beloit's 0-13. 

Hearn led all players with 25 in the game adding seven boards. Three other Warhawks joined him in double figures with 10 a piece from Quardell Young (Kenosha/Bradford), KJ Evans (Beloit/Beloit Memorial) and Eric Bryson (Elkhorn/Elkhorn).

UW-W will open Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday on the road in Menomonie, Wis. The tipoff against UW-Stout is scheduled for 3:00.
