MEQUON, Wis. – Riding a three game winning streak, the Edgewood College men's team was ready to come into Buuck Fieldhouse and snag a victory from Concordia Wisconsin, but the Falcons had different plans. The Eagles were outscored 42-24 in the paint and fell to Concordia Wisconsin 72-63 to even their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference record at 1-1.

Tuesday night's contest began as a chess match, each team trading baskets back and forth. Joe Klocek was active early, scoring nine of Edgewood College's first 11 points to put the Eagles up 11-10.  AfterDylan Heemstra hit a free throw, Matt Savatski drilled a triple, pushing the Eagles' lead to four at 15-11. Concordia Wisconsin responded with a 7-2 run to take a one-point lead but Heemstra and Savatski teamed up to pull the Eagles (3-2, 1-1 NACC) back out front by five. Under a minute to go, the Falcons' Keith Kahlfeldt put Concordia Wisconsin up four, but a layup by Emilio Lopez made the score 32-30 in favor of the home team at halftime.

After the break, the Falcons (2-3, 2-1 NACC) ran ahead early and jumped out to a seven point lead.  The Eagles did not back down and consecutive baskets by Klocek, Dylan Rusch, and Brett Meinecke pulled Edgewood College within one. Near the seven minute mark, the two teams again found themselves tied when Concordia Wisconsin began to convert after empty Edgewood College possessions. A three-point play and a pair of free throws began a 14-3 run by the Falcons while the Eagles missed seven straight shots. Rusch ended the drought with a triple, but with just under two minutes on the clock, Edgewood College ran out of time for a comeback.

The Eagles only saw the free throw line 10 times, making six while Concordia Wisconsin had 25 attempts. Edgewood College was outrebounded 47-38 for the game. Klocek earned his first double-double of the season with 17 points and a season-high 10 rebounds. Heemstra added a career-high 11 points off the bench on 4-for-4 shooting.

Edgewood College will be back in action on Thursday when the Eagles play host to MSOE. Tipoff for the NACC contest will be at 7:00 p.m. with live stats and live video available on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
