Thomas More Falls, 84-67, to Mount St. Joseph in Bridge Shootout

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's basketball team fell, 84-67, to across-the-river rival, the College of Mount St. Joseph tonight (Wednesday, November 20, 2013) in the 2013 Bridge Shootout at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 0-2 and with the win, the Lions improve to 3-0.

Mount St. Joseph jumped out to an early 12-5 lead when Mark Allen made a lay-up with 15:12 to play in the first half. Thomas More answered with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 12-11 when junior guard/forward Drew Mumford (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy) made one-of-two free-throws with 13:27 to play in the opening half. David Mann made a three-pointer at the 8:54 mark to cap a Lions' 14-6 run to increase the lead to 26-17. The Saints used a 7-3 run to cut the lead to 29-24 with 3:18 to play in the first half when junior forward Jalen Clark (Frankfort, Ky./Western Hills) made one-of-two free-throws. MSJ closed out the half on a 10-0 run to take a 39-24 halftime lead when Mann made a three-pointer with three-seconds to play in the half.

The Lions opened the second half on a 24-13 run capped by two free-throws by Joel Scudder to extend the lead to 63-37 with 10:41 to play in the half. Thomas More used a 28-17 run to cut the lead to 80-65 with 2:20 to play in the game when senior guard D'Carlo Hayes (Louisville, Ky./Male) made two free-throws, but it wasn't enough as MSJ closed the game on a 4-2 run for the 84-67 victory.

Mumford led three Saints in double-figure scoring with 19 points. Joining him in double-figures was Clark with 13 points and junior forward Chris Richard (Louisville, Ky./Southern) with 11. Mumford also led the team on the boards with seven rebounds and in assists with five.

The Saints return to action on Saturday (November 23) when they host Transylvania University at 3 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
