MORRISVILLE, N.Y. –

The Morrisville State College men's basketball team fell in non-conference action Sunday afternoon, dropping an 80-63 decision to host New York University at the NYU Tipoff Tournament held in Manhattan.

The loss is the first for the Mustangs on the season, as they post a 1-1 record after opening weekend.

Tom Wilk (Cortland, N.Y.) led the Morrisville State efforts with 18 points on the day, while Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Jordan Prior (Cortland, N.Y.) chipped in 12 apiece. Hanks led the Mustangs on the glass, compiling eight boards, while Prior dished out a team best six assists.

Four posted double figures for NYU, including leader Ryan Tana who registered 19 points, while assisting nine others. Adam Xu added 15, and Evan Kupferburg and R. Marcinkevicius each 10.

NYU outgained the Mustangs on the glass, 47-30, doubling the efforts on the offensive end, 22-11.

Morrisville State shot 40 percent from the floor in the contest, compared to 47 percent by NYU, but the significant difference was from long range, as the Mustangs only drained four tre's on the day, while the hosts hit nine.
