Hornets Shoot 54 Percent En Route to 90-74 Win over Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, PA - The Lynchburg College men's team shot 54 percent from the floor Saturday as the Hornets defeated Westminster College 90-74 in the consolation game of the Buzz Ridl Classic, hosted by Westminster. LC had a balanced scoring attack, as nine players had at least five points. 


Senior Manny Hernandez bounced back from a sub-par shooting night Friday to score a team-high 21 Saturday with seven rebounds. He was 7-of-12 overall and 5-of-9 from beyond the three-point arc. Sophomore Austen Arnold netted 17 points and also hit two threes while freshman Stephen Booker collected 11 points and five points off the bench. Gary Boone II, Alex Graves and Lyndon White each added eight points and Andrew Simmons had six points and eight assists. 


Lynchburg also drilled 47 percent (9-19) of its three-point attempts and out-rebounded Westminster 42-31. 

Paul Carswell posted a game-high 22 points for the Titans (0-2). Anthony Thomas and Charlie Wallander posted 13 and 12 points, respectively, and Wallander also snared a game-high nine caroms.


Lynchburg (1-1) opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference next Saturday at Eastern Mennonite University at 7 p.m.
