Dave Singleton turned in his second triple-double of the season as the Albright College men's basketball team advanced to the ECAC South championship game with an 82-71 victory over visiting La Roche College.

Singleton finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, joining Carleton's Scott Theisen as just the second Division III player in the nation to record multiple triple-doubles this season.

Junior Kyle Jordan had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while classmate Pedro Perez continued his strong scoring run with 19 points.

Singleton's 10th assist came with 17:36 to play on a feed to Jordan. He scored his 10th point with a jumper that made it 52-39; with 12:48 to play he grabbed his 10th board and took it coast-to-coast for two points and a 54-41 lead.

The Redhawks battled back late, cutting it to 59-54 with 8:39 left on a Joel McIntosh put-back. McIntosh made it 61-57 with a three-point play, but Perez answered with a huge three-pointer, from Sam Marrella's pass.

Andre Flanagan had a nice up-and-under baseline cut to keep it close at 66-63, then answered a Singleton jumper with a basket in the lane.

With under three minutes to play, Albright senior Zach Benjamin blocked McIntosh and tied him up for a jump ball. He then stole a pass and finished a put-back on the break to push the Lions' lead to 74-67.

Lionel Perkins and Derek Barber-Richards had opened the game with threes to give the visitors a 6-0 advantage. Perez got the Lions on the board from long range.

Singleton hit a tough up-and-under scoop shot to make it 8-6 La Roche, and the Lions soon surged into a 10-8 lead.

Albright went off from long range, hitting three consecutive three-pointers in under a minute. Jordan, Benjamin and Perez all sank triples to make it 19-8.

The teams struggled for hoops midway through the half. With 7:10 left in the first period, Singleton threw an alley-oop pass to freshman Calvert Gantz (eight points) that made it 27-15. Gantz then dunked a put-back chance down on the break for a 29-15 advantage.

Singleton found Gantz twice late in the half, as the Lions led 44-31 at halftime. Singleton had six points, seven rebounds and eight assists at the break.

Albright will host Juniata College in the Bollman Center tomorrow at 2 p.m., after the Eagles defeated DeSales 69-58 in the other semifinal. The Red and White will be going for their second-ever ECAC title in front of their home fans.
