It's been a Jekyll and Hyde type of season for the DePauw men's basketball team with losses to teams at the bottom of the conference standings and wins against squads at the top, but today's 68-52 senior day victory may have been the most impressive win and propelled the Tigers to a home game in the opening round of next week's conference tournament.

The Tigers improved to 16-9 overall and finished North Coast Athletic Conference play at 9-7, while the Fighting Scots dropped to 21-4 and 14-2 in the NCAC.

DePauw finished in a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings, but  earned the fourth seed in the NCAC Tournament and will host Wittenberg on Tuesday, February 19, at a time to be determined.

"It's a huge win, not just the win, but the way we played start to finish," head coach Bill Fenlon said.

"You gotta be able to rebound against these guys. With us staying even with them on the boards and play pretty well offensively it would been hard for a lot of people to beat us today."

Prior to the game, the Tigers recognized seniors Barry Flynn, Kevin Sullivan and Naeem Muhammed and the team came out of the gates strong.

DePauw asserted itself early with a 9-1 run, which included three-pointers from Michael Wilkison and Frank Patton III, to take a 24-11 lead with just under 11 minutes remaining in the first half.

Wooster scored the next five, but Kevin Sullivan added a layup and a trey to push the margin back to 13 and it would dip into single digits just once the rest of the way.

The margin reached as many as 16 in the opening period and was 42-30 at the intermission. DePauw shot 53.8 percent from the floor in the half to Wooster's 39.3 percent and the Tigers knocked in 4-9 three-pointers.

After Wooster's Kenny DeBoer nailed a three early in the second half to cut the DePauw lead to 42-33, DePauw scored nine straight capped by Sullivan's triple to make it 51-33.

The teams later went through a nearly five-minute scoreless stretch before Tommy Fernitz hit a couple of buckets sandwiching a Connor Rich three to push the Tigers' lead to 60-36 with 7;59 left.

DePauw led by as many as 26 a couple of minutes later and the visitors didn't score their 10th point of the second half until 4:55 on the clock.

Flynn led all scorers with 21 and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Sullivan scored eight and handed out a career-best five assists in the victory.

Xavier Brown led Wooster with 13 with DeBoer chipping in 10. Josh Claytor grabbed seven boards. The Fighting Scots leading scorer on the season, Doug Thorpe, was held scoreless as he missed all six field goals and both free throws.

DePauw shot 43.4 percent from the floor, but hit 7-17 three-pointers and 15-17 free throws. Wooster shot a season-low 33.3 percent from the field.
