OLD WESTBURY, NY 
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team held a 27-point half-time lead and never looked back as the Panthers rolled to a 119-80 senior day victory over the St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles on Tuesday evening from the Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury (22-2) improves to 17-0 in conference action while St. Joseph's-L.I. (6-17) fell to 4-12.  

Old Westbury wasted little time asserting their dominance, rolling out to a quick 10-0 lead just 2:06 into play.  Evan Mohammed scored seven consecutive team points to put St. Joseph's-L.I. on the board, making it a 15-7 game with 16:35 left on the clock.  After the Golden Eagles' spurt, Old Westbury's 38-20 run from 16:22 to 2:09 made it a 26-point game.  Nat Vaughan nailed a jumper to close out the half to put Old Westbury's up 59-32 at intermission. 

The Panthers picked up right where they left off, storming out of the second-half gates with a 12-2 run to go up 37-points in the opening 3:09.  Dan Thixton's layup with 5:58 left trimmed the deficit to 29 points as Old Westbury replied with a 14-3 run from 5:02 to: 45 to lead by 40 points, their largest cushion on the evening. 

All four seniors scored in double-figures while junior Tyrik Tucker stole the show for Old Westbury, finishing with 20 points, 11 assists (career-high) and two blocks to register his seventh double-double of the season. Old Westbury seniors combined for 68 points on 29-of-47 shooting from the field and 9-of-22 shooting from three-point territory.  Darnell Chavis combined 19 points (9-13 FG) and 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.  Kerel Mitchell continues to lead the nation in three-pointers per game, knocking down four triples and finished with 18 points.  Ty Moore sank 4-of-8 from beyond the arc for 16 points while Rashawn McCarthy added 15 points and nine rebounds.  Josh Hill added 11 points off the bench.

Evan Mohammed hit 7-of-16 from three-point land to score 24 points in leading St. Joseph's-L.I. in defeat.  Phil Calixte and Jordan Kowalski both added 13 points while Calixte dished out eight assists.  Dan Thixton chipped in with 11 points off the bench.

Both teams put on a shooting clinic, combining to land 30 three-pointers.  Old Westbury shot 64.1 percent from the field (50-78), 46.9 percent from three-point range (15-32) and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line (66.7).  St. Joseph's-L.I. hit 39.5 percent from the floor (30-76), 41.7 percent from beyond the arc (15-36) and 41.7 percent from the charity stripe (5-12).  Old Westbury held a +20 rebounding margin, ripping down 47 boards, and scored 14 of their 64 points in the paint off second chance opportunities.  Old Westbury also converted 10 St. Joseph's-L.I. turnovers into 21 points and dished out a season-best 30 assists.  Old Westbury reached triple digits for the fourth time this season and have combined to score 237 points in two games against the Golden Eagles this season.  

REGULAR SEASON FINALE AT SAGE GATORS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS:  Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 16) for their regular season finale on the road against the Sage Gators from the Kahl Campus Center.  Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. in Troy, New York.
