N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – Transylvania freshman Parker Stansberry pitched in a career-high 26 points Saturday, keying a dominating performance in a 91-47 win over Manchester in a men's Heartland Conference basketball matchup.
 
Transy is 18-5, 13-3 in the HCAC, while the Spartans are 4-19, 1-15 in the conference. The Pioneers entered play tied for second in the HCAC race. Transy has won two straight games and eight of their last nine. The contest also marked a season scoring high for the Pioneers.
 
Stansberry's 26 points eclipsed his previous high mark of 19. He was joined in double figures by Barrett Meyer, who had 18 points, and Tate Cox and Ethan Spurlin, who each posted 13. Spurlin also had seven rebounds.
 
Silas Sims had 11 points to lead Manchester.
 
Transy shot 55 percent from the field and 57 percent from three-point range (17 of 32). Manchester was two of eight from long range while shooting 47 percent overall for the game.
 
Transy's bench outscored Manchester's 18-2 and the Pioneers forced 23 turnovers. Transy had a 23-8 edge in points off throw-aways.
 
Transy gradually increased its lead throughout the second half, with the 44-point final margin being its largest of the game. Stansberry's three with 13:30 to go gave the Pioneers a 32-point edge, 64-32. 
 
Stansberry was 10 of 15 from the floor and six of 11 from behind the arc. Meyer was six of nine from long range.
 
Transy grabbed control of the game early, opening with a 13-4 run and eventually opening a 22-point advantage, 38-16, on a three by Stansberry with just over three minutes to play.
 
Transy led by 20, 44-24, at intermission. Stansberry led the way with 15 points and Meyer added 15. The Pioneers shot 55 percent in the period, canning 17 of 32 shots. Manchester hit eight of 14 for 57 percent, but committed 16 turnovers. Transy enjoyed a 19-6 edge in points off turnovers.   
 
Greg Flores had seven points to lead the Spartans, who upset the Pioneers earlier this year at the Beck Center.
 
Transy is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Hanover at 7:30 p.m. in a key HCAC matchup. The Pioneers will entertain Bluffton next Saturday in a 4 p.m. Senior Day contest.
