BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College men's basketball team found itself in a close game coming down the stretch in the first half, however, they used an (18-4) run over the final (6:03) of the first period to pull away from D'Youville, en route to a (90-60) pasting of the Spartans in front of a packed house.

The visiting Spartans gave a spirited effort in the early portion of the game as the teams traded the lead three times and found themselves tied six times.  However, the Mavs began firing on all cylinders and D'Youville was unable to keep up with the Mavs.  For the game, Medaille knocked down (49.2%) of their shots from the floor, including a (54.8%) effort in the first half.  The Mavs also connected on (6 of 12) three pointers in the second half and were (40.9%) from beyond the arc for the night.

Sophomore Jammal Coleman had a terrific night as he connected on (8 of 12) field goal attempts for a team high (19) points.  He also pulled down (4) rebounds, all of which came off the offensive glass.  The only other Maverick to notch double digits was Chris Willingham who came off the bench to tally (11) points on (4 of 7) shooting, while matching a game high with (3) assists, and (3) steals.

When the dust settled, thirteen Medaille players found their way into the score column.  Senior Tyler Stevens knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, finishing with (9) points.  Four Mavs had eight point nights, with Alex Baron (2 blocks), Josh Laureano (4 of 6) shooting, Robby Seyler, and Ryan Grandits, all accomplishing that feat.  Grandits also matched a game high with (7) rebounds in the win.

The Mavs wore down the Spartans in the second half, stretching their lead to as many as (39) points, before settling things with a thirty point victory.  A big key to the Medaille win was their ability to turn (22) D'Youville turnovers into (33) points on the other end of the floor.  The Spartans were not able to cash in on Medaille's miscues at the same rate, they finished with (15) points off turnovers.  The Mavs also controlled the lane, outscoring the Spartans (32-18) in the paint.  Meanwhile, the Medaille bench was a huge factor, outscoring their D'Youville counterparts (41-14) on the night.

The win is the second straight for Medaille and it improves their overall record to (14-8) and moves them to (11-4) in conference play.  The Mavs remain in 2nd place in the AMCC standings as they head to Franciscan University on Saturday (2/9) to face the Barons in a 3:00pm conference contest.
