Gustavus gains 74-49 win at Macalester

Gustavus Adolphus picked up its third straight victory, gaining a big turnover advantage to topple the Scots 74-49 Monday night at the Leonard Center.

 

Macalester led through the game's first nine minutes before the guests gained their initial lead at 18-17 with 10:41 left in the stanza.  Gustavus led 34-28 at the break.  With a six point lead at 39-33, the Gusties went on an 8-1 rally to go up 47-34 with 12:50 to go.  The margin grew to 18 points 7:02 remaining.

 

Justin Wasik (Jr., Chicago, Ill. / Maine South) and Dylan Kilgour (Fy., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) each scored 11 points to lead the Scots.  Samson Bialostok (So., North Woodmere, N.Y. / Lawrence) added eight points.

 

Gustavus, now 13-9 overall and 10-7 in the MIAC, was paced by Blake Shay with 16 points.  Jim Hill and Ben Biewen added 14 points apiece.  Two Gusties dished out four assists and three others chipped in with three.

 

The Scots, now 4-17 on the season and 1-15 in the MIAC, play St. Mary's on Wednesday (Feb. 6) in Winona.
