Baruch Falls to Brooklyn (74-58)

The Baruch College Bearcats suffered a 74-58 CUNYAC defeat to the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Monday night in Brooklyn, New York.

With the result, the Bearcats drop to 15-7 overall and 11-3 in CUNYAC (2nd Place), while Brooklyn improves to 9-12 overall and 7-6 (4th place) in the CUNYAC.


Granville Gittens, the CUNYAC Player of the Week, connected on a 3-point play to cut Brooklyn's lead to 32-31 with just under 16 minutes remaining, but Brooklyn responded with a 9-0 run to build a 41-31 advantage.

The Bearcats never recovered and were unable to cut the lead under eight points the rest of the game to watch their seven-game winning streak come to an end.   

The Bearcats shot 50 percent (13-for-26) in the second half, but Brooklyn was better at 58 percent (15-for-26). The Bearcats also committed 21 turnovers that led to 27 points scored by Brooklyn, which in the end proved to be the biggest difference of the conference game.

Gittens led the team again with 13 points (5-9 fg), while
Raymond De La Cruzand Joshua Vitalfinished with 10 points each.

Brian McMahontied a career-high with three blocked shots and scored on all three of his field goal attempts in the game.

Kavon Baker led Brooklyn College with 26 points, five assists and three steals.

Baruch will return to action on Wednesday, February 6, with an 8:00 pm non-conference home contest against the Stevens Institute of Technology in the popular "Battle of Lexington".
