Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team put forth one of its best all-around efforts of the season to upend the visiting Gators of Allegheny College, 67-59, on Wednesday night at Philips Gym.

Junior Geoff Simpson led all scorers with 19 points, 13 of which came in the first half. Austin Little added 17 points as he was the team's top marksman by shooting 7-of-12 from the floor, while rookie big man Randy Ollie posted his first-career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Yeomen put together a strong first half and would eventually grab a 20-8 lead following a 3-point play from Jesse Neugarten (Watch) with seven minutes left in the half.  Oberlin would extend its lead out to 16 on two separate occasions before heading into the locker room with a 14-point advantage at 32-18.

In the second half the Yeomen continued to pour it on as they increased their lead out to 24, 46-22, following a fast-break layup from Little (Watch) at the 15:02 mark. However, the Gators would not go down without a fight as they pushed the Yeomen all the way to the final buzzer.

Oberlin led 56-36 with 6:22 left to play, but the Gators would catch fire and rip off an 18-4 run over the next five minutes to make it a 60-54 game with 1:28 left to play.  With 42 seconds remaining the Gators' John O'Donnell had a 3-point attempt to cut the lead in half, but it was off the mark. From there the Yeomen were able to seal the game at the free throw line, making 6-of-7 attempts in the closing moments.

With the win the Yeomen snapped a nine-game losing skid and put themselves back into contention for a potential NCAC Tournament berth.

Devon McLeod was the lone Allegheny player in double figures as he checked in with 18 points. Oberlin's Andrew Fox led all rebounders with 12.

The Yeomen will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan for a 3 p.m. conference clash.
