MEQUON, Wis. – The rainy, gloomy weather outside seemed to stick with the Edgewood College men's basketball team as they headed into Buuck Fieldhouse on Tuesday night. The Eagles only converted six field goals in the first half as they fell to Concordia University Wisconsin 67-50 in Mequon.

Edgewood College (5-15, 4-8 NAC) was cold in the early going, missing their first ten shots from the field before Michael Janusek put the Eagles on the board with a jumper at the 15:13 mark. Although Edgewood College went nearly five minutes without a field goal, the Eagles only found themselves down 8-3. After Luke Theinadded a basket, the Falcons scored the next five points to make the score 13-5. Edgewood College battled back to cut their deficit to two, but Concordia Wisconsin (14-7, 9-3 NAC) responded with a 9-0 run to make the score 22-11. The rest of the half, field goals were few and far between as Edgewood College only converted two baskets in the final seven minutes of the half. In the mean time, the Falcons built their lead and saw a 29-18 advantage heading into the locker room. The Eagles only converted 20 percent (6-for-30) from the field and were 2-for-12 (16.7 percent) from beyond the three-point line.

Edgewood College scored on their opening possession of the half to cut the Falcons' lead to nine, but had another drought of four minutes without a score. After calling a timeout trailing 35-20, Dylan Rusch and Tal Diekvoss each nailed a triple less than one minute apart before Concordia Wisconsin's Bryan Donaldson converted an and-one to keep the Falcons lead in double digits. After two more Concordia Wisconsin baskets near the seven minute mark, the Falcons had pushed their lead to 20. With two minutes to play, Diekvoss hit back-to-back threes to cut Concordia Wisconsin's lead to 19, but by then there was no chance for Edgewood College to come back.

The Eagles improved their shooting in the second half, but still only shot 33.3 percent from the field for the game. Edgewood College also struggled from the free throw line, connecting on a season-low 35.7 percent (5-for-14). Defensively, the Eagles held Concordia Wisconsin to only three triples, but the Falcons hit 44.6 percent from the field and were 14-for19 from the charity stripe.

Diekvoss was the only Eagle to reach double figures, scoring 11 points while going 3-for-7 from three-point range. Janusek pulled down a career-high seven boards as he led Edgewood College in that category.

Edgewood College will return home from their three game road trip to take on Wisconsin Lutheran College this Saturday. The Eagles and Warriors tipoff from the Todd Wehr Edgedome at 4:15 p.m. Live stats and live video will be provided with links available at EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
