Strong First Half Propels Baruch Past CCNY (69-53), Win Streak at Five

The Baruch College Bearcats ran their win streak to five games after defeating the Beavers of CCNY, 69-53, in a CUNYAC contest on Monday night at Nat Holman Gymnasium in Harlem.

The visiting Bearcats (13-6, 9-2 CUNYAC) started very strong by jumping out to a 39-20 halftime lead.

They built up a 22 point lead (45-23) during the early part of the second half before the Beavers put together a rally to get as close as 47-35 with 12:30 remaining.

The Bearcats responded with nine straight points for a 56-35 advantage with eight minutes left and kept control the rest of the game to secure the conference victory.


Granville Gittens(eight rebounds) and Raymond De La Cruz(5-8 fg) led the way with 17 points apiece, while Edward Roscignohad 10 points (5-8 fg) and four steals.

Jason Berlinercame off the bench to contribute eight points and five rebounds.

Terence Johnson led the Beavers (7-11, 3-7 CUNYAC) with 19 points and five assists.

Baruch will continue their CUNYAC road schedule on Wednesday, January 30, with an 8:00 pm CUNYAC contest at York College in Jamaica, New York.
