Beavers Fall to Bearcats

NEW YORK – Jordan Ortega finished with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 12 rebounds and Terence Johnston recorded a game-high 19 points on 6-of-12 from the field to go along with five assists, but the City College of New York (7-12, 3-8 CUNYAC) fell to conference powerhouse Baruch College (13-6, 9-2 CUNYAC), 69-53, on Monday evening at Nat Holman Gymnasium.

Ortega and Johnston provided most of the offense for the Beavers while big man Lennox Norville added seven posts off of the bench in four minutes of action. Paul Dail dished out a game-high seven assists in 40 minutes of action but three Bearcats reached double figures.

Ortega scored 10 first-half points on 4-of-6 shooting and added four rebounds and two steals while Johnston dished out five assists in the opening period. For the Bearcats, De La Cruz and Gittens reached double figures with 12 points and 10 points, respectively, as Baruch entered the half with a 19-point lead.

The Beavers head to Staten Island to face the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
