(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's basketball team defeated Waynesburg University, 78-68, today (Saturday, January 26, 2013) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints extended their winning streak to seven games and improved to 16-3 overall and 9-1 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 8-12 overall and 3-8 in the PAC.

Waynesburg took an early 10-6 lead when Kenny Klase made a lay-up with 15:06 to play in the first half.  Thomas More answered with a 17-4 run capped by a three-pointer by junior point guard D'Carlo Hayes (Louisville, Ky./Male) made a three-pointer.  The Yellow Jackets closed out the half on an 18-10 run to cut the Saints' lead to 33-32 at halftime when Jacob Fleegle made two free-throws with 30-seconds to play in the half.

Thomas More opened the second half on a 13-4 run to build a 43-36 lead with 15:47 to play in the game when Hayes made a lay-up.  Waynesburg answered with a 4-0 run capped by a Byrum Louco jumper with 13:54 to play in the game to cut the lead to 43-40.  The Saints responded with a 15-9 run to extend the lead to 61-49 when sophomore shooting guard Jalen Clark (Frankfort, Ky./Western Hills) made a three-pointer when 7:58 to play in the game.  The Yellow Jackets used a 25-7 run to cut the lead to 68-64 with 2:49 to play in the second half when Casey Hope converted an old fashion three-point play.  That would be as close as Waynesburg would come as Thomas More closed out the game on a 10-4 run for the 78-68 victory.

Four Saints scored in double-figures as Hayes had a game-high-tying 16 points, junior point guard Spencer Berlekamp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) had 13 points and junior small forward Brandon Housley (Covington, Ky./Holmes) and sophomore shooting guard Chris Richard (Louisville, Ky./Southern) each finished with 11 points.  Housley and Richard led the team on the boards with four rebounds each, while junior power forward Josef Marshall (Dayton, Ohio/Trotwood Madison) led the team in assists with six.

the Saints remain at home on Wednesday (January 30) when they host Geneva College at 7:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
