Bronx, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball team defeated the Lehman College Lightning 66-60 on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at Lehman College. The Cougars improved to 8-10 Overall and 4-5 CUNYAC while the Lightning dropped to 6-12 Overall and 1-8 CUNYAC.

The Cougars led for the first 14 minutes. They were led by as much as 6pts. Lehman kept in the game, due to making shots. The Lightning would tie and then lead, when Phil Ductan, hit a layup and then a free throw after he was fouled on the play. This was at 5:52 wiith a Lightning 22-21 lead. Medgar Evers College would tie the game at 24 with 3:16 left in the half, when Senior Forward Winston Douglas nailed a 3pt. shot. After a brief tie, the Cougars would take the lead and hold it going into the break.

In the 2nd half, Medgar Evers College led for the first 13 minutes. They would lead by as much as 9pts. Lehman made a brief comeback, tying and regaining the lead, 56-53 with 6:24. The Cougars Senior Ricco Oliver made two big 3pt. shots, giving Medgar Evers College the lead 59-56 with 5:02. The Cougars would hold onto the lead and come out with a victory.

In the win, Medgar Evers College, was led by Senior Forward Winston Douglas and Senior Guard Ricco Oliver each with 14pts. Oliver was 4-5 from behind the arc and Douglas was 5-8 from behind the charity stripe. Douglas grabbed 15 rebounds, added 3 blocks, and 3 steals. Douglas recorded his 13 double-double. Oliver grabbed a rebound, added an assist, and a steal. Senior Guard and Captain Jovan Deare scored 12pts (6-6 FT-FTA), grabbed 7 rebounds, tallied 2 assists, and a steal. Sophomore Guard Hector Navarro scored 10pts (4-4 FT-FTA), grabbed 3 rebounds, added 2 assists, and 3 steals.

Lehman College in the loss, was led by Stanley Stephens with 15pts. Phil Ductan scored 14pts and Driton Hasangjekaj with 12pts.

Medgar Evers College will be back in action on Friday January 25, 2013, when they play the City College Beavers at Medgar Evers College. Game time is 8pm and can be seen live on http://ustream.tv/channel/mecathletics
