FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington used a 14-1 while shooting 55 percent in the second half to cruise to a 67-43 win over Green Mountain College, in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action Friday night at Dearborn Gym.

The win kept UMaine-Farmington tied atop the NAC standings with a 9-2 conference record, 14-3 overall, while Green Mountain fell to 3-14, 2-9 NAC. The victory was the seventh straight for UMF, the program's longest winning streak since the 1999-2000 season.

Junior center Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine/Maranacook) paced UMaine-Farmington (14-3, 9-2 NAC) with 24 points and 18 rebounds, 16 and 11 of which came in the second half. Garrett Clemmer (Windham, Maine/Windham) was the only other UMF player in double digits with 10 points. Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) and Uriah Forest-Bulley (Turner Falls, Mass./Turner Falls) each logged nine points, with Iman dishing out six assists.

Green Mountain's Carnelius Green led the Eagles with 10 points and eight rebounds, with Alex Homkey and Chris Strong each chipping in with eight points.

The Beavers held a 26-16 lead at the break, building their 10-point lead with an 11-4 run over the final five minutes of an otherwise offensively lackluster opening frame.

An entirely different tempo marked the first six minutes of the second half. Both teams pushed the ball and made better use of their scoring chances, with UMaine-Farmington's lead extended to just 13 points, 38-25, with 14:24 showing on the clock.

Buckets by Andrew Dickey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) and Clemmer, followed by a pair of foul shots by Dickey, stretched the Beavers' lead to 19 points. Green Mountain's Jeremiah Aponte got two of those back at the line, leaving UMF with a 44-27 lead with 11:51 remaining.

Farmington came back with foul shots by Clemmer and Forest-Bulley, launching a 14-1 run for the Beavers lasting over five minutes. It ended with a Forest-Bulley layup and a 58-28 UMaine-Farmington lead with 6:24 to play.

UMF's lead reached its widest at 66-35 on a Nick Hilton (Wilton, Maine/Mt. Blue) jumper with 3:51 remaining, with a pair of late 3-pointers by Cody Crandall taking a bite out of the Farmington lead.

UMaine-Farmington completes the weekend on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Castleton State College at 1:00 p.m. at Dearborn Gym. Green Mountain finishes its two-game swing through Maine on Saturday at Thomas College in Waterville.
