GRANTHAM, Pa. Messiah got points from all eight players that saw the court in the second half and sent the Elizabethtown College men's basketball team to its second straight defeat, 62-52, in Commonwealth Conference action Wednesday night.

The Blue Jays and Falcons entered the locker room tied at 28, and like they did in an upset win Saturday at Lycoming, the Jays came out full steam ahead in the second half.

Joe Schwalm and Will Schlosser sandwiched layups around back-to-back Ben Cable 3-pointers as the visitors went ahead by seven, 36-29, less than three minutes into the second half.

Messiah (11-6, 7-4 CC) trimmed the lead to one, 38-37, by the 11-minute mark, but Elizabethtown held firm to its lead over the next two minutes with a basket from Lee Eckert and a Cable free throw.

A 3-pointer from Scott Bolen flipped the lead in the Falcons' favor, but Andrew Mantz came right back to draw a foul and hit both of his attempts at the line for a 43-42 Blue Jay lead with 8:40 remaining.

Unfortunately for the Blue Jays (5-12, 3-8 CC), they went cold the rest of the way, mustering just 10 points the rest of regulation. Messiah upped its lead to 10 with 1:04 left, but unlike Saturday's late turnaround, there would be no comeback for E-town in this one.

Elizabethtown hit just two of its final 10 shots, while going 4-of-7 at the charity stripe. They also committed three turnovers in the final 8:40, though on the whole, did a nice job protecting the ball with only 15 turnovers in the game (Messiah had 16).

The Falcons, who earned their seventh straight win against E-town since a 69-64 overtime loss back on Dec. 5, 2009, were led by Scott Bolen's eight second-half points. Older brother, Brad Bolen, had six in the frame.

For the game, guard Zac Hoy produced a game-high 14 points for homestanding Messiah on 5-of-7 shooting. Brad Bolen finished with 11, Taylor Groff had nine to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds.

Will Schlosser led three Jays in double figures with 11 points. Cable netted 10, but continued to try and work his way out of a shooting rut. He went 3-of-10 Wednesday and is 6-for-23 (5-of-18 from 3-pt. range) in two games this week. Mantz also finished with 10 points and seven boards.

Lee Eckert had seven points for E-town, but the team's second-leading scorer, Schwalm, was held to only four points on 1-of-4 attempts.

E-town will attempt to avenge a 72-65 Nov. 20 loss to Lebanon Valley Saturday when the Flying Dutchmen visit Thompson Gymnasium for a 4 p.m. start.

Following the game, the men's basketball program will host its annual alumni game.
