Baruch Tops Lehman (78-69)

The Baruch College Bearcats led from start to finish en route to a 78-69 CUNYAC home victory over the Lightning of Lehman College on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats shot 48.3 percent (28-of-57) and scored 23 points off 15 Lehman turnovers to improve to 5-2 in the CUNYAC.

They jumped ahead 38-25 at halftime and led by as much as 18 points (69-51) with 4:22 remaining before a late run by the visitors from the Bronx managed to cut the deficit to the final score of 78-69.


Matt Feldmanled five players in double-figure scoring with a career-high 16 points off the bench to go along with four steals and assists. Raymond De La Cruzscored 15 points shooting 6-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Brian McMahontotaled a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Granville Gittens(6 rebounds) and Matas Rascius(6 rebounds) finished with 10 points each to round out the double-figure scorers. Edward Roscignotied a career-high with seven assists.

Lehman struggled in the first half shooting 32.1 percent (9-of-28), but bounced back in the second half shooting 46.9 percent (15-of-32). Stanley
Stephens led the team with a near double-double of 24 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Baruch will return to action on Friday, January 18, with an 8:00 pm CUNYAC road contest at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn.
