Stanley Stephens Has Career Night with 24 Points, Lehman Men's Basketball Falls at Baruch 78-69

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior forward Stanley Stephens exploded for 24 points on Wednesday night, but it was not enough as the Lehman College men's basketball team fell at Baruch College, 78-69. Baruch is now 5-2 in the CUNYAC, 9-6 overall, while Lehman is 6-10, 1-6 in the conference.

Baruch never trailed in the game, and led 38-25 at the half.

In the second half, the Lightning would rally, keeping within striking range. However, Lehman would never get closer than eight points.

Stephens (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center) made eight of his 14 shots in 38 minutes played, and added eight free throws, for his game-high 24 points. He added a team-high nine rebounds, three steals, and a pair of assists. Junior guard Erasmo Soto (Harlem, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Lehman out-rebounded Baruch, 38-37, and shot 40.0% for the game. Baruch shot 49.1% on the night.

The Lightning return to action on Friday, January 18, heading to Queens, N.Y., to play against York College. Tipoff is slated for 8:00 p.m.
