Fifteenth ranked UW-Whitewater, 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, extended its win streak over UW-Oshkosh to seven straight with a 68-50 win in Kachel Gym in Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin Wednesday evening.  UW-Oshkosh is 6-11 overall and 1-7 after the first half of the WIAC schedule.

Whitewater never trailed in the game, and was rarely threatened in the second half.  UW-W opened up 10-3, and by the 5:50 mark had the lead into double digits at 28-17.  Twice, late in the first half, the Titans came within seven, 30-23 at 2:33 and 32-25 with 0:32 left, by Quardell Young's three with eight seconds left sent Whitewater into the locker room with a 35-25 lead.

The Warhawks shot 58% in the first half, and the teams combined for just seven turnovers (three UW-W, four UW-O).  UW-Oshkosh senior guard Sean Wise scored 14 points (5-6 from the floor, 4-4 at the line) in the first half, and Young scored 11 for the Warhawks.

Oshkosh trailed 46-41 with 10:47 left in the game, but UW-W used a 7-0 run to move in front 53-41 at the 8:42 mark, and the margin was never less than double digits the rest of the way.

Whitewater shot 50% for the game, Oshkosh 40%.  Oshkosh scored more often at the free throw line, making 12-17 while UW-W went 8-12. 

Whitewater's defense clamped down on Wise in the second half, not only holding Wise scoreless, but also not allowing Wise to get a shot off before he had to leave the game with an injury. Wise's 14 first half points still led UW-O at game's end, Dylan Wurtz and Andre Wallace pulled down six boards apiece. Whitewater's Young did not score in the second half either, but teammates Eric Bryson and Darnell Harris added ten points each. Harris also led both teams with nine rebounds, and Young dished out five assists to lead the game in that category.

UW-W will host UW-Stout at 4:00 Saturday in Kachel Gym in Williams Center.  The game, with a Warhawk women's game to follow at 6:00, is part of a special Treyton Kilar Kids' Day.
