The Baruch College Bearcats lost, 67-64, in overtime to the Raptors of Rutgers-Camden on Monday night in Camden, New Jersey.
The visiting Bearcats led 28-25 at halftime and were up throughout the first part of the second half before the Raptors managed to tie the contest at 43 with 8:45 remaining.
The two teams were tied six more times during the final eight minutes and ended regulation at 58-all to force overtime.
During the overtime, the Bearcats struggled early to score, while the Raptors hit a pair of 3-pointers to lead 64-58 with two minutes left.
Jason Berlinerwas fouled on a 3-point attempt and sank all three free throws to cut the deficit to 64-61, but the Raptors scored on their next possession via a free throw to lead by four points (65-61) with 41 seconds left.
Team captain Fuat Yaparhit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left to cut the score to 65-64, but the Raptors connected on two free throws in the final seconds and survived a Baruch 3-pointer that rimmed in-and-out as the clocked expired to suffer the heart-breaking 67-64 defeat.
Berliner led the visiting Bearcats with 14 points, while Yapar finished with 11 points. Brian McMahongrabbed 11 rebounds and Edward Roscignonotched three steals in the loss just outside the city of Philadelphia.
Teon Russel led the Raptors with a double-double of 21 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Baruch will return to action on Wednesday, January 16, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home contest against Lehman College.
