Wheaton, Ill. – The #20-ranked Wheaton College men's basketball team defeated Millikin University 91-71 on Saturday night. Wheaton improves to 12-3 on the year and 2-2 in conference play with the win on its home court. The Thunder will travel to #17-Augustana on Wednesday night for a 7:30 PM tipoff with the Vikings.
Junior Tyler Peters led all scorers with 26 points and six assists. Peters shot 9-for-11 from the field and also collected five rebounds. Sophomore Brayden Teuscher scored 17 points on the night and freshman Michael Berg added 16 points with five rebounds. Junior Nathan Haynes scored 13 points, with 11 rebounds to register his seventh "double-double" of the season.
Wheaton shot a 63.6% (28-44) field goal percentage, with 40% (4-10) from behind the three-point arc and 73.8% (31-42) at the free throw line. Millikin shot 50% (23-46) from the field, with 31.6% (6-19) from three-point range and 70.4% (19-27) at the charity stripe. Wheaton owned a 32-22 edge in rebounding, including a 9-6 advantage on the offensive glass that assisted the Thunder to its 11-4 advantage in second-chance points.
TJ Griffin led the Big Blue with 17 points and four assists. Tives Gardner and Chase Robbins each scored 10 points for the guests. Deavis Johnson scored nine points and collected a team-best eight rebounds.
