R-MC Runs by Shenandoah 78-51 in ODAC Men's Hoops Action

ASHLAND, VA – Senior center Dylan Cole had a team-high 13 points and game-best 12 rebounds as the Yellow Jackets knocked off Shenandoah, 78-51, in ODAC Men's Hoops action Wednesday evening in Ashland. 

Cole was one of four players in double digits for R-MC which improves to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the league.   Lamar Giggetts, Andre Simon and Chris Hamilton each had 12 points for the Jackets who shot 50% from the floor, making 31-of-62 shots on the night.   

Simon and Giggetts each had seven rebounds as they along with Cole, helped R-MC to a 47-34 advantage on the boards.    Point-guards Marcus Badger and Trent Walker had six and five assists, respectively for R-MC.

With the score 21-20, a Cole bucket with 7:12 remaining sparked what would prove to be a 12-1 run for the Jackets to close the half.  A Simon basket with 26 seconds on the clock sent the teams to the locker room with R-MC up 33-21.

SU would chip away at the outset of the second-half and were able to cut its deficit to eight when Sarif Almulla drained a jumper to make the score 46-38 with 12:14 left in the game.

Randolph-Macon responded with a 14-0 run over the next three minutes with a Badger dunk extending the Yellow Jackets advantage to 60-38.  The 14 unanswered points was part of what proved to be 32-13 run for the Yellow Jackets to close the game as they would see their lead grow to as many as 29 down the stretch. 

Shenandoah (3-11 / 0-5 ODAC) was led by Jared Carithers who had a game-high 15 points.  Dante Serale had 10 points for the Hornets, while Almulla chipped in with eight.   Xavier Alston came off the bench to grab a team-high eight rebounds for SU, which shot 33.3% for the game.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action Saturday when it hosts Bridgewater in a 2:00 p.m. ODAC gam
