More news about: Medaille

BUFFALO, NY - The Mavs headed across town this evening to face AMCC rival D'Youville College in search of their third straight victory.  The Mavs used a strong first half performance to lead them to an (87-73) victory.  The Mavs staved off a strong second half effort from the Spartans en route to victory.

It was a game that saw the Mavs grab a (43-31) advantage at the intermission and then stave off a comeback effort by the Spartans in the final twenty minutes.  The Mavs never trailed in the game and held a lead as large as (15) points midway through the first half.

Sophomore Jammal Coleman continued his strong play as he led all scorers with (22) points en route to a double/double.  He connected on (8 of 16) shots while gathering in a game high (11) rebounds and dishing out a game best (6) assists.  Fellow second year player Alex Baron poured in (19) points on (6 of 11) shooting while pulling down (7) rebounds, coming up with (2) steals, and blocking a shot.

Coming off the bench for the Mavs and providing a huge spark was junior transfer Robby Seyler who connected on (4 of 7) shots from the floor on his way to a (9) point and (7) rebound outing.

The Mavs shot at a (46.7%) clip from the floor while knocking down (35.3%) of their shots from beyond the arc.  They also shot well from the charity stripe, as they went (25 for 33) for (75.8%) in a foul plagued game.  They also won the battle of the boards against the Spartans (48-41) in the victory.

The win pushes Medaille to (8-6) overall and (5-2) in AMCC play.  They will get right back into conference action when they host Franciscan University on Saturday (1/12) at 3:00pm in their return to the Sullivan Center after a one month home hiatus.
