COUGARS FALL TO #10 ROADRUNNERS 80-61

Mahwah, NJ- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball team fell to the #10 Ramapo College Roadrunners 80-61. The Roadrunners improve to 10-1 Overall while the Cougars fall to 5-7 Overall. 

The Cougars started off on fire, building a lead to 13-0, which took 3 minutes off the clock. Ramapo would chip away at the lead, until with 3:57 left in the 1st half, tied the score at 27 on a pair of free throws by Anthony LoRusso. Free throws were an issue in this game for Medgar Evers College. The Cougars would regain the lead at 33-30, until LoRusso made a huge 3pt. shot with 23 seconds left in the half, tying the score at 33. 

In the 2nd half, Ramapo started the frame on a 4-0 run, before the Cougars countered with their own 4-0 run to tie the score at 37. Ramapo would regain the lead with 16:27 and never look back. The Roadrunners would lead by as much as 21pts in the half. Medgar Evers College missed 21 free throws. That hurts the most.

Medgar Evers College was led by Senior Guard and Captain Jovan Deare with 16pts. Deare grabbed 6 rebounds, tallied 2 assists, and a steal. Senior Forward Winston Douglas scored 14pts, grabbed 8 rebounds, and tallied an assist, a block, and 2 steals. Sophomore Guard Michael Taylor scored 10pts.

Ramapo was led by Garret Thiel with 23pts. Anthony LoRusso scored 15pts and both Stephon Treadwell and Elgin Brown scored 12pts.  

Medgar Evers College will be back in action on Tuesday January 8, 2013, when they travel to Manhattan and take on CUNYAC rival John Jay Bloodhounds. Game time will be at 7pm.
