More news about: New York University

The Violets took the lead early in the first half and never relinquished it in cruising to an 81-65 men's basketball win over Hunter College on Tuesday, January 8, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

Carl Yaffe's dunk with 15:34 remaining in the first half gave NYU a 9-8 lead and sparked a 10-2 run as the Violets raced to a 38-24 halftime lead.

The lead expanded to a game-high 28 points on Iyoha Agho's three-pointer with 5:54 left in the contest.

The one-sided affair afforded NYU (10-2) the chance to utilize its entire bench, as several team members recorded career highs. Agho finished with personal bests of seven points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal, while Costis Gontikas tallied a career-high five points.

"I thought it was a great team win and I'm glad we got everyone into the game," said NYU Head Coach Joe Nesci
