The Lakeland College men's basketball team is 7-0 for just the second time in school history and the first time since 1971-72 after a 97-65 victory over Silver Lake College Friday night at Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies built a 30-point lead at halftime and cruised to the win over their neighbors from Manitowoc in the non-conference game. Lakeland remains undefeated in the all-time series against the Lakers, having won all five meetings over the past five years.

Jake Schwarz (Sr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) scored 21 points to lead the Muskies while playing just 21 minutes. Kurt Jansen (So.-Wrightstown, Wis.) added a career-high 18 points, including four three-pointers, and Lakeland hit 13 of 30 shots from behind the three-point arc.

The Muskies never trailed and blew the game open early on. A 24-3 run in the middle of the first half left Lakeland ahead 45-15 with 3:35 left in the first half, and the Muskies led by as many as 34 while out-rebounding the Lakers 25-12 in the first 20 minutes.

Lakeland pushed the margin to 38 early in the second half before substituting liberally the rest of the way. Eighteen different players played for the Muskies and no player played more than 26 minutes.

Joey Burris (So.-Kiel, Wis.) added 15 points and Justin Ward (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) chipped in 12 as Lakeland shot 47.5% from the field (38-of-80). The Muskies also committed just 11 turnovers and had 32 assists.

Dru Harris scored 13 points to lead Silver Lake, a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association that dropped to 4-8 overall. Austin Allen-Walker and Carl Heing Jean both added 12 points and Heing Jean also added 10 rebounds and a game-high six assists. The Lakers shot 39.4% (26-of-66) and committed 21 turnovers.

The Muskies will go for a school record eight consecutive win to start the season when they face Lawrence University on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. as part of the JustAGame Winter Classic at JustAGame Fieldhouse in the Wisconsin Dells.
