Men's Hoops Drops 96-55 Decision to Bethany (W.Va.)

BETHANY, W.Va. – Frostburg State fell behind early and was unable to recover in dropping a 96-55 non-conference game to Bethany (W.Va.), Tuesday night.

The Bobcats (3-7) struggled from the floor, falling behind 17-3 with just over 10 minutes gone on the first half clock. FSU brought the deficit to 13, 24-11, and later to 12 on several occasions, before trailing 36-23 at the break.

Bethany (8-1) proved too strong and ran away with the contest in the second half. The Bobcats pulled within 15 points five minutes into the second half, but a 12-0 scoring spurt put the Bison ahead 57-30 at 12:37.

The Bison lead hit 30 points, 75-45 with 5:58 showing and the hosts hit a three-pointer with less than a minute remaining for the game's final basket and a 96-55 win.

Frostburg shot just 20-of-58 (34.5%) from the field and 7-of-24 (29.2%) from deep. Freshman Royce Hunsberger led the Bobcats in scoring with 14 points off the bench, including a team best three 3-PT's. Senior Christian Jackson finished with 12 points and four assists.

Bethany had six players in double figures, including four starters. Brady Pacific led the Bison with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting (77.7%), including 4-of-6 (66.6%) from beyond the arc. Nick Wilcox added 13 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals.

FSU returns to floor on December 22, when it hosts Penn State Altoona at 1:00 pm.
