Oberlin, Ohio - Andrew Fox hit a go-ahead three (Watch) with 1:39 remaining as the Oberlin College men's basketball team fended off a late comeback attempt from Denison University to earn a 52-51 victory on Monday night at Philips Gym.

Fox's three made it 49-46 and the Yeomen hit three free throws down the stretch to secure their first win against the Big Red since January 11, 2009 when they came away with a 64-63 victory down in Granville.

Sophomore Austin Little continued to have the hot hand as he made five 3-pointers on eight tries to finish with a game-high 16 points – 13 of which came in the first half. Geoff Simpson was the only other Yeomen in double figures with 13 points.

The first half was nip-and-tuck throughout. Little's four-point play (Watch) tied the game at 13 with 15:25 left in the frame. Ian Campbell's steal and breakaway layup (Watch) at the 8:10 mark gave the Yeomen a 22-19 advantage and from there they would closeout the session on an 8-3 run to lead 30-22 at the half.

In the second half it appeared as if the Yeomen were in control as Campbell's triple-hit (Watch) made a 41-31 OC advantage with 12:07 left to play. However, the Big Red didn't go down quietly as they stormed all the way back by using a 12-0 run to claim 43-41 cushion at the 5:38 mark.

Fox's acrobatic finish in the post (Watch) would even things back up at 43 and Little's only triple-hit of the second half  (Watch) would later tie it at 46 with 2:10 to go – marking the fifth and final tie of the game as Fox would put the Yeomen in the lead for good on their next trip down the floor.

The Yeomen shot 38.3-percent (18-of-47) from the floor, while the Big Red was slightly better at 40.4-percent (21-of-52). Both teams struggled at the free throw line as Oberlin finished 7-of-14 (50%) while Denison was just 4-of-9 (44.4%).

Oberlin improved to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC – matching the same amount of conference victories they had all of last season. Denison fell to 3-5 and 1-2 in the league.

The Yeomen will play one last game before their holiday recess as they host Grove City College on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
