HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - All 17 players for the #25 Hampden-Sydney Basketball team contributed in a 98-64 trouncing of Emory & Henry in an ODAC contest Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers opened the game with a ferocious Khobi Williamson (Norfolk, VA / Maury) alley oop dunk with the pass courtesy of Harrison George(Raleigh, NC / Leesville). Greg Lewis (Mechanicsville, VA / Hanover) splashed a three-pointer at 18:11 to make it a 5-0. Despite a bevy of Wasp turnovers, the game proved to be a tight contest early on as the Wasps caught fire from deep range. Emory & Henry made six trifectas in the first 12 minutes, with the last one coming from Tyler Mullins at 8:06 to cut the Tiger lead down to 28-24.

Hampden-Sydney's defense took over the game from there. The Wasps did not record another field goal attempt until there was 3:40 left in the half. The Hampden-Sydney offense capitalized off a slew of turnovers along with efficient offense to go on a 14-2 run in that time span to break open the game for good, leading 42-26. The Tigers remained relentless on both ends of the court, holding Emory & Henry without a made field goal the final eight minutes of the half while outscoring the Wasps 31-5.

Emory & Henry amassed an astonishing 20 first-half turnovers and made just three two-point baskets in the half. The Tigers shot 71.9% in the first stanza.

The second-half proved to be more evenly contested, with H-SC winning it 39-35, but Emory & Henry never trailed by fewer than 18 points and saw their deficit grow to as many as 39.

Harrison George (Raleigh, NC / Leesville) scored a team-high 20 points while shooting 9-12 from the floor, and Williamson added 14 points on 7-9 shooting with three assists. Greg Lewis scored 13 points (5-6 FGs, 3-4 threes) along with three assists and four steals. Cam Anderson(Charlottesville, VA / Blue Ridge) contributed eight points, four rebounds, and three blocks while Mike Murray (Norfolk, VA / Norfolk Christian) had a game and career-high nine assists.

Myles Turner led Emory & Henry with 22 points, and Charles Smith and Stephen Brown each tacked on 11 points.

Hampden-Sydney shot 62.9% (39-62) for the game while Emory & Henry was 42.3% (22-52). After making six three pointers in the first 12 minutes, the Wasps managed only one make from beyond the arc the remainder of the contest to finish 7-20 (35%) compared to 5-16 (31.2%) for the Tigers. The Tigers handed out 28 assists on 39 made baskets and forced Emory & Henry into 31 turnovers, resulting in 45 points off turnovers for Hampden-Sydney. Hampden-Sydney once again commanded the paint, accumulating a 56-24 advantage in points in the paint. The Tigers displayed their depth once again as the reserves came off the bench to provide 45 points.

Hampden-Sydney travels to Delaware to play Wesley on Tuesday for a 7 pm contest.
