ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.--Elizabethtown College's Ben Cable buried his third three-pointer of the game with 2.2 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the host Blue Jays (2-6, 1-4 Commonwealth) over the Hood College men's basketball team (4-4, 1-3 Commonwealth), 65-64, Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Conference game.

The Blazers held the upperhand in the contest for all but 49 seconds; Hood led by as many as 10 twice in the first half and took a 36-28 edge at halftime. The Blue Jays trimmed another double-digit deficit in the second half to one, 45-44, at the 12:52 mark and grabbed their first lead of the game on the next possession on a layup by Lee Eckert. A Matt Galloway trey regained the lead for Hood with a little less than 10 minutes to play.

Hood's lead swelled to seven after a Cameron Cook layup made it 62-55 with 3:35 remaining; however the Blazers would connect on just one more field goal the rest of the way, another layup by Cook at the 2:03 mark. A layup by Elizabethtown's Andrew Mantz cut the deficit in half, making it 62-60 Hood with 1:46 to go.

Both teams turned the ball over on their next possession and Cook was unable to connect on a two tries in the final minute. Mantz snared the rebound off Cook's second miss and Etown called timeout with 16 seconds left. With the clock ticking down, Joe Schwalm found Cable on the perimeter for what proved to be the game-winning basket. After a Hood timeout, the ball was inbounded to Justin Bowens whose half-court heave ricocheted off the backboard and the Blue Jays escaped with the victory, their first in the Commonwealth this season.

One game after being held scoreless by the Messiah Falcons, Cook finished with a game-high 21 points for Hood and added three more triples. Justin Stone pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with six assists, four points and three steals. His four points drew him even with Dennis Tressler for ninth place on Hood's career scoring list (692).

Reggie Daniels registered nine points and six boards while Galloway came off the bench to net nine points as well, all on threes. Trey Quinn had seven points, six rebounds and four assists while Bowens finished with six points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists.

The Blazers outrebounded the Blue Jays, 44-27, and shot .407 from the field for the game.

Cable was one of three Blue Jays in double figures, finishing with 18 points and five assists.

Hood steps out of conference play Saturday when it travels to Washington College for a 2 p.m. tilt.
