WASHINGTON – Senior guard Layton Seeber (Champaign, Ill.) scored 23 points and senior center Danny Kelly (Strongsville, Ohio) added 14 but the Gallaudet University men's basketball team lost a non-conference matchup against the University of Mary Washington, 75-69, at the GU Field House on Tuesday night.

Seeber was held scoreless for the first 17:35 of the game but exploded for eight points in the final 2:25 of the first half and added 15 more in the second half in the senior guard's second highest output this season. Kelly scored his 14 points on a nearly perfect 7-of-8 night from the field and added five rebounds but the Bison (3-4) couldn't overcome long stretches of cold shooting to pull off their first win over the Eagles (3-4) since 1996. UMW holds a 50-12 advantage in the series between the two teams.

In a game that featured four runs of 10 points or more, the Bison were on the wrong end of the two largest ones.  With an 11-5 advantage early in the first half, the Bison missed their next eight shots over the next six minutes and turned the ball over five times as the visiting Eagles went on a 19-0 run and took a 24-11 lead. The Bison cut the deficit to 37-30 at halftime and used a 10-0 run of their own to take a 43-42 lead on sophomore forward Ben Coleman's (St. Paris, Ohio) three-pointer from the corner with 14:51 left in the game but could not sustain the momentum.

Later in the second half, with the Bison trailing 57-53 with 8:22 remaining, the Bison again went cold and missed their next six shots as the Eagles went on a 14-0 run to extend their lead to 71-53. The Bison had one more run in them as they again scored 10 unanswered points to close the gap to 71-63. The Bison got as close as 74-69 but ran out of time in their comeback bid as the team dropped its third game in its last four.
