Millikin Cruises Past Fontbonne

          The Millikin men's basketball picked up its second straight win defeating Fontbonne University 87-77 at the Griswold Center on Dec. 4.  Millikin is now 3-3 on the season and Fontbonne falls to 1-6.

          Breaking a 7-7 with three minutes and 30 seconds into the first half, Millikin went on a major run outscoring Fontbonne 45-22 for the reminder of the first half building a 52-31 advantage at the half.  Millikin controlled the second half maintaining a double digit lead the entire half.

          Millikin shot 45 percent from the field including 50 percent (8-16) from three point range.  Fontbonne shot 46 percent from the field.  The difference in the game was Millikin's up tempo pace that gave the Big Blue 71 shots in the game compared to only 59 for the Griffins. Millikin forced Fontbonne into 21 turnovers and out rebounded the Griffins 38-34. 

          Millikin had three players in double figures in scoring led by #TJ Griffin# was 20 points.  He added five steals and four assists.  #Deavis Johnson# had 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.  #Alex Tueth# had a double double with 14 points and a team high 10 rebounds.  Millikin got contributions up and down the line up with 12 players scoring points and nine players grabbing a rebound.  #Trent Windemuller# and

          Greg Gentry had 16 points and Jared Greenlee added 14 to lead the Griffins.  Greenlee led the team with eight rebounds.

          Millikin will play in a tournament at Greenville College this weekend taking on Missouri Baptist on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. and facing Mid-Continent University on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m.
