A seven point swing by #3 UW-Whitewater in the final minute doomed the UW-Stout men's basketball team as they lost for the first time all year, 64-58.

Whitewater's Eric Bryson hit a three with 55 seconds remaining to put the Warhawks up, 58-53. On the ensuing possesion, Keith Rash (Jr, Milwaukee) came up with a three of his own to pull Stout within two.

The dagger came with 15 seconds to go and Stout (5-1, 0-1) still trailing by two. Whitewater's KJ Evans was able to hit a three while also drawing a foul, giving him the rare oppurtunity for a four-point play. He was able to hit the free-throw as well to put Whitewater (5-0, 1-0) up by 6.

The first half was a slugfest, as neither team was really able to get going offensively and at the break the score was tied, 23-23. Both teams shot under 30% for the half.

In the second half, the Blue Devils shot much better, hitting 48% of their shots and 50% of their three-point attempts. However, free-throws proved to be an issue for the team, as they shot only 10-19 for the half and 12-21 overall.

Stout got off to a fast start in the second half, going on a 9-2 run in the first four minutes. The Blue Devils managed to retain the lead for the better part of the half, until a 9-0 run by Whitewater put the Warhawks up, 49-45 with under four to go.

Stout would cut the lead to one on an Alex Oman (Jr, Lake Elmo, Minn.) three, but the Warhawks would lead the rest of the game.

Rash led the Blue Devils on a late charge, scoring eight of his 14 points in the final three minutes of the game, but in the end it wasn't enough. Rash shot 4-9 for the game, including 2-4 from beyond the arc.

He shared game-high scoring honors with Oman, who shot only 5-14 overall, but 3-4 from three-point land. Oman also pulled down five rebounds, including two on the offensive end.

Jarvis Regland (Jr, Milwaukee) also scored in double digits for the Blue Devils, scoring 10 points on 4-9 shooting. Josh Kosloske (Jr, Oakfield) led the team in rebounds with 10, two offensive.

Erik Olson (Sr, Buffalo, Minn.) recorded five assists on the night, putting him only three away from becoming Stout's all-time assist leader. He also chipped in nine points, going 3-3 from the field and 3-6 from the charity stripe.

Up next, the Blue Devils will go on the road to face UW-Superior in a conference showdown on Wednesday, December 5th.
