POULTNEY, Vt. – UMaine-Farmington center Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine/Maranacook) scored a career high 30 points and combined with his teammates to shoot 52.8 percent from the field, leading UMaine-Farmington men's basketball to an easy 95-49 North Atlantic Conference win over Green Mountain College, Saturday afternoon at GMC's Eagle Dome.

UMaine-Farmington's (4-1 overall, 1-1 NAC) 95 points against Green Mountain (1-5 overall, 0-2 NAC) was the most by the Beavers since a 95-point effort almost exactly a year ago, on December 2, 2011, against Castleton State.

Johnson connected on 15 of his 25 field goal attempts and recorded more points than time on the court, as it took the junior big man just 25 minutes to record the first 30-point game of his career.

Junior forward Andrew Dickey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) went 8-of-11 from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 at the stripe on his way to a career high 22 points. Junior guard Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) finished with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including three 3-pointers, and dished out six assists.

Junior forward Connor Hasson (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) hauled down a game high eight rebounds for the Beavers.

UMaine-Farmington put together a quick 8-0 run to begin the contest, largely on the strength of Johnson's inside game. The Beavers still led by only seven points, 33-26, with 4:25 left in the first half, but a late surge extended Farmington's lead to 47-30 at the intermission.

Green Mountain came out to start the second half with a full court press in hopes of inching their way back to within striking distance, but UMF put together a 14-0 run and increased its lead to 35 halfway through the second half.

Leading the way for Green Mountain College was Jakerion Ales with 12 points, several of which came on tough jumpers in the lane.  Chris Strong assisted that effort with 10 points thanks in large part to a 3-for-4 performance from downtown. Alex Homkey popped off the bench to add nine points for the Eagles in defeat.

UMaine-Farmington will return to the court for its third game in four days on Monday, Dec. 3, when it travels to Lewiston to face Bates College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
