BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (4-1/2-0) knocked down 10 3-pointers and had five players score in double figures, and it was just enough to hold off visiting New Paltz (3-3/1-2) for a 97-93 victory in a SUNYAC contest today at the Sports Arena.

Sophomore Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) paced Buffalo State with 25 points and added four assists.  Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) netted 17 points and four assists, and Maurice Miles (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) matched a career-best with 15 points.  Seth Runge (Springville/Springville GI) chipped in 12 points, and Anyar Majak (Rochester/Jefferson) added 10 off the bench.

Buffalo State exploded out of the gates, hitting 8 of its first 12 shots, including going 5 for 5 from behind the arc to take a 15-point lead less than eight minutes into the game.  The Bengals continued to push the pace and held a 54-40 advantage at the intermission.  New Paltz used 22 made free throws in the second half to hang around.  Although the Hawks never led, they used a 9-0 run in the final minute and a half to cut the deficit to just 95-93 with 14 seconds remaining.  Majak hit a pair of critical free throws to ice the win. 

The Bengals shot 52-percent from the field, including going 10 for 21 from behind the arc.  New Paltz shot 42-percent from the field and was 35 of 37 at the charity stripe.  The Bengals outscored the Hawks 30-12 from long range and committed just four turnovers for the entire game. 

Buffalo State will travel to North Country next weekend and will meet Potsdam on Friday at 8 p.m.
