Danbury, Conn. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams stifled the Western Connecticut State University Colonials men's basketball team in a 57-38 victory in men's basketball action at Feldman Arena this evening. Trinity evens its record at 3-3, while the Colonials drop to 0-4.

Trinity sophomore Mickel Simpson (Woburn, Mass.) was the only player for either team scoring in double figures. He scored a game-high 12 points, while pulling down a game-high nine rebounds. Senior Leroy Mayers (Bronx, N.Y.) and freshman Tre'Von Perry (Waterbury, Conn.) each scored nine points for Western. Sophomore Luis Bridtter (Stamford, Conn.) grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Colonials, which connected on just 25% of their shots from the field.

Trinity dominated the opening 13 minutes of play, running out to a 20-5 lead. A layup by Mayers began a 7-2 run for the Colonials, cutting the margin to 10 points, 22-12, with just over four minutes remaining. The Bantams returned the favor by going on a 7-2 run of their own over the next four minutes and closed out the first half with a 31-16 lead. Trinity never trailed by fewer than 14 points in the second half and amassed its largest lead of the contest, 22 points, on four different occasions.

Trinity held a 47-33 advantage in rebounds and also had the edge in assists, 15-6. Western finished shooting 24.6% from the floor and 52.9% from the line, while Trinity hit 41.3% and 59.4% respectively.
