Baruch Routs Hunter (91-62), Shoot 64 Percent in First Half for CUNYAC win

The Baruch College Bearcats shot 64 percent in the first half en route to a 91-62 rout of rival Hunter College Hawks on Tuesday night at the newly remodeled Hunter Sportsplex in uptown New York City.

The visiting Bearcats (3-1, 1-0 CUNYAC) dominated the action in the first half to take a 50-24 halftime lead. They connected on 16-of-25 field goals, including 3-of-6 from three-point range, to build the big advantage to allow the entire roster to play in the second half.

The Bearcats scored 32 points off 24 turnovers by the Hawks. The bench was pivotal again scoring 51 total points.

Franklin Garcia was perfect from the field (5-5 fg, 3-3 3fg, 2-2 ft) to finish with a team-high 15 points in just 14 minutes of action.

Rob Goldstein had a solid game off the bench with 12 points (4-5 fg) and four assists. Matt Feldman (five steals, four rebounds) and Brian McMahon (six rebounds, two steals, one block) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points each.

Joshua Vital collected a team-high 11 rebounds and contributed five assists and two blocked shots.

Matthew Hunter led the Hawks (2-4, 0-1 CUNYAC) with 14 points and two steals.

Baruch with return to action on Thursday night with a non-conference home contest against Yeshiva University from the Skyline Conference. Tip off in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
